
| Academic Internship Tuition Scholarship The purpose of this award is to recognize academic achievements of University of Michigan-Dearborn students and to support, through tuition stipend, the participation in off-campus, non-paid academic internship experiences which enhance the students' educational and career objectives. This scholarship is intended to support those internship programs which are non-paid and which yield university credit. The scholarship money awarded will be applied toward tuition costs for the internship course. Applicants must have achieved sophomore standing (25 credits) and be enrolled in an internship for the term in which he/she is applying. |

| African-American Alumni Affiliate Book Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize outstanding leadership achievement of African American students enrolled at UM-Dearborn. Applicants must have completed at least 12 credit hours at the University of Michigan -Dearborn, a cumulative 2.5 GPA, and will be selected based on academic achievement, demonstrated involvement and leadership abilities on campus or in the community, scholarly research, artistic creations or inventions. |

| Alumni Legacy Scholarship The purpose of the Alumni Legacy Scholarship is to perpetuate the legacy of the University of Michigan-Dearborn tradition by funding scholarships for those with close familial or other significant relationships to University of Michigan-Dearborn alumni. Applicants must demonstrate an important familial relationship (e.g. spouse, child, sibling, grandchild) or other significant relationship to an alumnus/a of UM-D (e.g. an applicant raised by an alumnus/a; but not a neighbor or a close friend of an alumnus/a), and exhibit sustained activity and/or achievement in academic, extracurricular, co-curricular, community, and/or leadership activities. Applicants must submit a letter of nomination written by the UM-D alumnus/a with whom the familial relationship exists. Scholarship finalists will be invited to participate in an interview session with the Alumni Society Scholarship Committee. |

| American Association Of University Women (AAUW) Scholarship The AAUW Scholarship provides incentive awards to women whose education has been interrupted and who are now enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Applicants must be women who have had at least a two-year interruption in their education and are at least 25 years of age. |

| Reed M. Baird Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is to reward superior academic achievement and to help students with the financial burden of attending college. While merit will be the primary criterion, financial need will also be a factor in the selection process. |

| Barnes and Noble Book Scholarship The Barnes and Noble Book Scholarship is sponsored by the University of Michigan-Dearborn Barnes and Noble Bookstore. This program is intended to help defray the costs of college attendance by assisting students with the cost of books. Awards are drawn from individual book accounts established for the recipients at the UM-D Bookstore for the purpose of purchasing only textbooks. |

| Selma Baumgarten Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established to help students in financial need who might otherwise not be able to complete their studies and who in some measure share the values held by Mrs. Baumgarten and her strong belief in the power of higher education to transform lives. She felt that all people should have the opportunity to improve themselves and their ability to help others through education. Applicants must demonstrate a love of learning and dedication to public service. Preference will be give to students majoring in or planning in fields within CASL or School of Education. Particular consideration will be given to participants in the SOAR program. |

| Beth Beson Scholarship for Returning Women This fund was established to recognize scholastic achievement, to encourage continued progress, and to provide assistance to women students in financing their education. The scholarship is intended to help women who have economic responsibility for themselves and their children and/or those women who are in need of additional education to gain economic independence. |

| John J. Brownfain Endowed Memorial Honors Scholarship This fund was established to recognize scholastic achievement, to encourage continued progress and to provide assistance to student in financing their education at UM-Dearborn. Students must be enrolled in the Honors Program and a majoring in Humanities and/or Psychology. |

| Dr. Joachim "Kim" Burhn Scholarship for International Study This Scholarship was established to recognize scholastic achievement, to encourage continued progress, and specifically to provide opportunities for students to build on their classroom experience and learn about the world through study abroad. The award may only be used for a UM-Dearborn approved international study or study abroad program. |

| CASL Alumni Affiliate Scholarship The scholarship program is sponsored by the Alumni Affiliate of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters. This program is intended to recognize the superior academic achievement of students enrolled in degree programs in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters. Applicants must have achieved Sophomore standing (25 credits), a cumulative 3.25 GPA, and are required to submit a recommendation from a College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters faculty member who is familiar with their academic ability. |

| CASL Emeriti Faculty Scholarship This scholarship was established by a group of College of Arts, Sciences and Letters Emeriti faculty. This program is intended to recognize scholastic achievement, to encourage continued academic progress, and to provide assistance to students in financing their education. Applicants must have been accepted for study in the College of Arts, Science and Letters and have achieved junior or senior status, with preference given to seniors, with a minimum of 3.0 GPA who demonstrate qualities of leadership. |

| Dearborn Herb Study Association Scholarship This scholarship program is funded through a generous gift made by the Dearborn Herb Study Association and is intended to recognize academic achievement in Botany/Environmental Sciences and/or related fields. |

| Shirley Dudek Demmer Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established to recognize, recruit and /or encourage the continued progress of, and provide assistance to UM-Dearborn undergraduate students in the Women’s & Gender Studies program and graduate students in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program who have selected Women’s & Gender Studies as their thematic focus. Merit and financial need will be a considered in the selection process. |

| Dr. John Dempsey Memorial Scholarship The scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Dempsey, a former professor of political science at UM-D who also served as Director of Budget for the State of Michigan and Director of the Michigan Department of Social Services. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours and be enrolled full-time (12 credits) in a political science program. |

| Dr. Linda Fisher Memorial Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established to recognize, to encourage continued progress, and to provide assistance to students majoring in the natural sciences at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The applicant must be a junior or a senior, concentrating in one of the undergraduate degree programs in the Natural Sciences Department. Some preference will be given to those with a concentration in Microbiology. |

| Garden Club of Dearborn This scholarship program is funded through a generous gift made by the foundation of the Federal Garden Clubs of Michigan and the Garden Club of Dearborn. The purpose of the program is toperpetuate study in environmentally related fields. Applicants must be majoring in Horticulture, Environmental Science or a related field. Academic standing, financial need and character will be considered in awarding this scholarship. |

| General Merit Scholarship This scholarship has a dual function: 1) to reward superior academic achievement, and 2) to help students with the financial burden of attending college. Applicants may be degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate students at UM-D. Students taking fewer than 12 credit hours (undergraduate) or 6 credit hours (graduate) must provide a letter of justification, explaining why they are not a full-time student, but will still be considered.
Dr. George and Isabelle Elanjian Scholarship Fund
The scholarship was established by Dr. George and Isabelle Elanjian to support students of Armenian descent. Applicants must be of Armenian descent, full-time students (12 CR +), and must have completed 24 CR at UM-Dearborn. Applicants will be required to submit a recommendation from a community leader and demonstrate voluntary leadership contributions to the community. Preference will be given to applicants of 100% Armenian descent; however, no applicant may be less than 50% Armenian descent.

| Janet and Cynthia Hewitt Scholarship For Women The purpose of this scholarship is to assist non-traditional female students who are single parents; displaced homemakers; women who have lost their major source of support and who need to re-enter the job market, such as separated, divorced, or widowed; older women; and women seeking training for more highly skilled work. Applicants must be female students who are single parents, displaced homemakers, and are separated, divorced, or widowed; have a cumulative 2.6 GPA; and are U.S. citizens and residents of Michigan. |

| International Studies Tuition Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to support those programs which provide an academic experience in a foreign country, in recognition of the unique intellectual, career and personal growth opportunities that such a program can provide. The scholarship money awarded will be applied toward tuition costs for all UM-D sponsored programs. For students who are studying abroad in conjunction with a college or university other than UM-D, the scholarship money will be applied to tuition costs at UM-D for the academic term following the foreign study. Applicants must have achieved Sophomore standing (25 credits), and be enrolled in an approved international study program. Students in foreign language programs must provide a form verifying attendance at a foreign institution. The form must be signed by a faculty member. |

| William and Alice Jenkins Memorial Scholarship The scholarship is in honor of Dr. William Jenkins, second Chancellor of UM-D, and his wife, Mrs. Alice Jenkins. The scholarship serves a dual function: 1) to reward superior academic achievement, and 2) to help students with the financial burden of attending college. Therefore, while merit will be the primary criterion, financial need will also be a factor in the selection process. Applicants must have achieved junior standing (55 credits). Current recipients of a full tuition remission scholarship are not eligible for this award. Two scholarships are awarded annually, with one specifically earmarked for a qualified student belonging to one of the groups designated as "targets of diversity" in the UM-D Diversity Plan. |

| Grace and Evelyn Kachaturoff Scholarship This Scholarship was created by Grace and Evelyn Kachaturoff in honor of their parents and family who were and are committed to public education. Applicants must be enrolled in the elementary and/or secondary education program in the humanities and/or the social sciences. Recipients must demonstrate a strong commitment to K-12 public education. Recipients must have achieved junior standing and will be selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and qualities of demonstrated leadership skills. |

| Lecturers Employee Organization Scholarship This scholarship is sponsored by the Lecturers Employee Organization at the University of Michigan–Dearborn. Applicants must have completed at least 12 Undergraduate credits hours at UM-D and a cumulative 3.25 GPA. While merit will be the primary criterion, financial need will also be a factor in the selection process. |

| James and May Bell Loeb Scholarship The scholarship was established in memory of James and May Bell Loeb to recognize outstanding scholastic achievement. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA. |

| Kenneth & Marian Parkhurst Natural Areas Fellowship This scholarship is designed to provide experiential learning for a prospective leader of natural history and environmental interpretation. The applicant must show leadership skills, initiative and possess high quality communication and interpersonal skills. The applicant may be enrolled in any concentration or program but will be expected to take courses appropriated to the understanding of natural history, ecological processes of the Natural Areas and to the development of interpretive and research skills. Applicant must demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to a life long pursuit of knowledge and discovery about the natural world, communication of this knowledge and values which provide for the preservation of natural areas and biodiversity. |

| Richard Reynolds Memorial Scholarship The scholarship recognizes demonstrated achievement of UM-D students in the fields of journalism, public relations, advertising and related areas of mass communications. Applicants must have achieved sophomore standing with at least 30 credit hours completed at UM-Dearborn, and have demonstrated achievement in mass communications or related areas. |

| Sidell Slosberg Sorscher and Samuel Sorcher Scholarship This scholarship was established to recognize scholastic achievement, to encourage continued progress and provide assistance to students in financing their education. To assist those students from parents, family or spouse is non-existent or marginal. Special consideration will be given to students with refugee status. Students must be enrolled full-time with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and demonstrate financial need., |

| Stokes-Hoffman Scholarship This scholarship has been set up to recognize, recruit and/or encourage the continued progress of, and provide assistance to students who are active in the UM-Dearborn Gay/Straight Alliance or another related organization and/or are interested in gender identity and/or sexual identity issues. Strong preference will be given to students who also provide evidence of involvement in community affairs, or interest in law and public policy, public administration, or related areas of study at UM-Dearborn. While merit will be the primary criterion, financial need will also be a factor in the selection process. |

Velda D. Taylor Scholarship for Returning Women This scholarship was established by Deborah Taylor in memory of her mother. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist returning women students. Applicants must be women who have at least a two year interruption in their education, are at least 25 years of age, and are committed to full-time (12 credit hours or more) study. Preference will be given to students majoring in a human service field.

| Richard A. Young Public Service Scholarship The scholarship was established in honor of Representative Young's thirty years of service and leadership in the Michigan Legislature. The program recognizes outstanding upperclassmen with a record of service to their community. Applicants must have achieved junior standing (55 credits) and have demonstrated leadership through volunteerism, including service in community or religious organizations, politics, and/or other community activities. Applicants will be required to submit a recommendation from a community leader with direct knowledge and experience of the applicant's community service. Awards may not be applied toward costs associated with participation in a Political Internship Program. |
