Community College Transfer Scholarship

Now also being offered to students who begin in the Summer term!*

The Community College Transfer Scholarship is awarded to students who are graduating from a community college with an Associate’s Degree, or who have earned 50 transferable college credits at a community college. Awards are based on academic achievement.

The Award
Up to a $3,000 non-renewable stipend for study at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The award is distributed over the first Fall and Winter semesters of enrollment, $1,500 per semester.

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (as calculated by the Admissions Office - based on transferable courses from all previous schools attended)
  • Completion of 50 college credits OR receipt of an Associate’s Degree from a community college
  • Recipients must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours); scholarship is pro-rated for enrollment less than full-time.
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status and State of Michigan residency (as defined by the University of Michigan)
  • Last school attended prior to enrolling at UM-Dearborn must be a community college.

Application Process

Transfer students are automatically considered for this scholarship at the time of admission. Only the application for admission is required for consideration; no other application is required. Scholarship consideration continues on a rolling basis.  Final official transcripts which affect scholarship eligibility must be received by the end of the UM-Dearborn drop/add period for that semester.

Students who previously attended UM-Dearborn are considered "re-admits," not transfer students, and therefore are not eligible for the Community College Transfer Scholarship.  Second degree admitted students not eligible.

* Scholarship funds for Summer admits are available for Fall and Winter terms.
