LaShorage Shaffer is a faculty member at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She has experience teaching in the field of special education and early childhood special education. She has worked as a cooperating professional for students in special education and early childhood education programs from Illinois. She has co-taught several special education courses at the university, implemented and supervised playgroups, and is currently assisting on a literacy project in early childhood classrooms. LaShorage has presented at several local, state, and national conferences. Her research interests span from challenging behavior, supporting social interactions for children in the early childhood setting, supporting teachers in using evidenced-based practices to enhance teaching, personnel preparation, and policy.
