More information on locations can be found in The Birds of Dearborn, An Annotated Checklist, available as a paperback or download. Guide to Dearborn sunflower/wildlflower fields located here. Some frequently cited places: The new Environmental Interpretive Center is at the corner of Monteith Blvd. and Fairlane Drive (see also location map). There are feeders behind the building, and a quiet room from which to view them. The long meadow between Fairlane Lake and the Ford Estate is called "Jensen's Meadow." There is a waterfall behind the Estate. The meadow between the Rose Garden and the lake has a large shagbark hickory in it, and is thus known as the "hickory meadow." The "floodplain" is most of the area to the left of Fairlane Lake. From the south end of the lake, you descend into the floodplain from "the stone bridge." The "old field" is located just above the double trail at the top of the map. The "swamp" is located just off the map in the upper left hand corner. The brush dump is off the bottom of the map, at the end of Fairlane Drive near Evergreen Road. |
