October:28 Oct: At long last, our first American Tree Sparrow of the year was banded.
27 Oct: We finally caught our first Northern Saw-whet Owl last night. Click here for more on our owl banding program.
25 Oct: Another Chipping Sparrow was found today, along with a very late Northern Waterthrush.
24 Oct: A Blue-gray Gnatchcatcher was seen. Birds in the nets included a Chipping Sparrow, two Orange-crowned Warblers, a Common Yellowthroat, and a Palm Warbler.
22 Oct: A Nashville Warbler was banded today.
14 Oct: A late Northern Waterthrush was banded today, along with a large influx of Hermit Thrushes. An American Woodcock was also found.
13 Oct: The Northern Mockingbird was across the street today behind the restaurants at Fairlane Town Center. The first Fox Sparrow was observed.
9 Oct: An intergrade between a Yellow-shafted and Red-shafted flicker was banded today.
4 Oct: An Olive-sided Flycatcher was in the meadow between the rose garden and the lake today. The first Winter Wren was also seen.
3 Oct: The first Dark-eyed Junco was found today, and once again the Northern Mockingbird in the brush dump made an appearance; it's now been here nearly a year.
2 Oct: A Green Heron and Northern Parula today were new late dates.
