26 Apr: A singing Purple Finch was found today, along with the first Wood Thrush. A few Palm Warblers and Yellow-rumped Warblers are around, but nothing is in good numbers except for White-throated Sparrows.
24 Apr: Today three Purple Finches showed up at the banding lab feeders.
23 Apr: Our first Blue-headed Vireo, Yellow Warbler, and Palm Warbler were seen today. Over the weekend, the Northern Mockingbird has been easier to find near the Estate down to Evergreen Road.
20 Apr: We banded the season's first Black-and-white Warbler today, and saw two Nashville Warblers, which ties the early first date. Also newly arrived was Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
19 Apr: An Ovenbird was an early arrival today, along with Chimney Swifts. Two Common Loons flew overhead. A Green Heron in the Craves yard was the first for spring, as well Tree Swallows.
18 Apr: An early White-crowned Sparrow visited the EIC feeders, two Great Egrets were at the lake, and the elusive Northern Mockingbird put in another appearance near the Estate.
17 Apr: Our first House Wren and Savannah Sparrow were banded today; and we also saw our first Barn Swallow and Common Yellowthroat (the yellowthroat is a new early date). A Northern Harrier flew over the lake. A Black-throated Green Warbler was in the Craves yard.
16 Apr: Spring banding began today, with the first Swamp Sparrow of the year.
15 Apr: A Baltimore Oriole in the Craves east Dearborn yard broke the early arrival date record by two weeks.
11 Apr: Spring's first migrant Yellow-rumped Warbler and Ruby-crowned Kinglets were found today.
10 Apr: The first Field Sparrow was seen today.
9 Apr: The first Eastern Towhee of the season was singing on campus today, many Golden-crowned Kinglets are still around, and phoebes.
5 Apr: Today there were three Eastern Phoebes by the Lake, and a Winter Wren was located.
4 Apr: A single Common Redpoll was at an east Dearborn feeder this morning.
