Children's Summer Gardening Programs SUMMER GARDENING FUN FOR KIDS!Children who like to dig in the dirt and plant things should have a special place to grow. Get your child outside and gardening this summer at the beautiful Community Organic Garden on the UM-Dearborn campus. Two programs will be offered:Sprouts(7-9 year-olds) Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00a.m. 7-9 year-olds will plant and tend their own vegetable garden plot in this exciting and independent gardening experience. They will also take part in group activities that include science experiments, garden games and crafts, and a visit to the campus honeybee hives. Program Sessions: May 30 (planting day), June 6, 13, 27, July 11, 25, August 8, 29 (harvest day) Kinder-Gardening(4-6 year olds and their parents/guardians) Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Program Sessions: May 30 (planting day), June 6, 13, 27, July 11, 25, August 8, 29 (harvest day) 4-6 year olds and their parents/guardians will share a common vegetable and flower garden plot. The children will also have fun singing songs, playing garden games, making garden crafts, and more. BOTH groups will finish the season with a harvest day celebration to incorporate all we have learned during the planting season and eat our garden goodies.
The coordinator of this year’s gardening program is UM-D student Lynn Hausch.The program fee for each program is $35 per child and Registration is Required. To register your child, you may print registration forms from this web site and submit the with payment to the address on the form. You will be contacted to confirm registration when payment is received. |
