Erythemis simpliolli
  • Common Name: Eastern Pondhawk
  • Identifying Feature: Decurved Paraprocts (Figure b.)
  • Time of Year Found: The nymph is found all year.
  • Size of Mature Nymph: 12mm
  • Habitat: Submergent vegetation
  • Other Information: The adults usually migrate away after emerging

  • Common Name: Blue Dasher
  • Identifying Feature: The absence of mid-dorsal spines
  • Time of Year Found: Nymph is found all year.
  • Size of Mature Nymph: 14mm
  • Habitat: Submergent vegetation
  • Other Information: Blue dashers are generally very common along the shores edge. Males protect a small territory and aerial dog fights occur periodically with competing males.
