Insurance ID Card
When you enrolled in the plan, you received a temporary identification card. After several weeks, you should receive a permanent identification card in the mail.
- Keep your insurance ID card with you at all times. If you visit the doctor or the hospital, you may be asked to show your ID card before receiving services.
- Don't worry if you have not received your permanent ID card yet. It usually takes several weeks to receive your card. Your insurance became effective as soon as you are enrolled by the UM-D and the insurance advisor signed it, so your temporary card will always work. You are covered. If several weeks pass and you still do not receive your permanent insurance card, please call the insurance company at 800.239.9697 or visit the Aetna Student Health home page, click on Student Connection and enter 711146 as your Policy Number.
- If you need to go to the doctor or the hospital before you receive your permanent ID card, simply use the temporary ID card. If the provider has any questions about your coverage, the insurance company will verify your coverage over the phone. If you are not yet in the insurance company's records, you may refer the provider to the Counseling & Support Services at 313-593-5430. We will be glad to verify your coverage over the phone.
