The Office of Admissions and Orientation formally welcomes new students to the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the New Student Convocation. Please join this celebration of the beginning of a new academic year.
Formal invitations for New Student Convocation will be sent in the summer months. Please visit this website often for updated information.
Check-In Information:
Freshman students need to check-in at 8:30 am at the Social Sciences Building.
Transfer students need to check in at 9:30 am at the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Building.
Graduate and Doctoral students need to check in at 12:00 pm at the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Building.
Freshman Students:
A Student Success Workshop will be held prior to the Convocation ceremony. This workshop has been designed to position you for success as you begin your university experience. You will get advice on how to study for classes, manage your time, and keep healthy in your first year. Following lunch, the formal Convocation ceremony will recognize your transition into the UM-Dearborn community. Please plan to check in at 8:30 am at the Social Sciences Building.
Transfer Students:
A Transfer Success Seminar will be held prior to the Convocation ceremony. This workshop offers a series of sessions designed to give you the academic and social edge as you acclimate to your new community. UM-Dearborn looks forward to welcoming you to campus at the Convocation ceremony. Please plan to check in at 9:30 am at the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Building.
Graduate and Doctoral Students:

All Students, Family and Friends:
The Chancellor's Ice Cream Social follows the New Student Convocation ceremony. All are welcome to join participating faculty and staff to learn more about the campus environment.
