In 2010-2011, Sheila Smith published a book chapter and an Inorganic Chemistry Viewpoint article. She co-organized, with Lori A. Watson, a symposium at the 241st National Meeting of the American Chemical Society entitled Undergraduate Research at the Frontiers of Inorganic Chemistry; this symposium had 5 sessions comprised of 33 speakers and 101 posters including her own. She continues to serve as one of the Leadership Council of IONiC (Interactive Online Network of Inorganic Chemists), and contributed 6 Learning Objects (non- peer reviewed teaching resources shared with the inorganic community) to the web-based repository VIPEr (Virtual Inorganic Pedagogical Electronic Resource). This group, IONiC, also submitted an NSF TUES proposal entitled “IONiC 2.0: Transforming inorganic chemistry education by building faculty networks” in the amount of $542,434 in December of 2010. This grant is a collaboration between 8 institutions and iscurrently under review. She also continues to serve as a national Advanced Placement Exam grader, and contributes to editing several Inorganic and General Chemistry Textbooks.
