Bachelor of General Studies
with an emphasis in Work, Technology, and Society

Focus of the degree: This is an undergraduate degree program that addresses issues of relevance to the fields of management, technology, and human relations with a liberal arts curriculum. Work is changing at a dynamic pace. As a liberal arts major, you are a student of change.

Structure of the degree: Coursework is selected from three areas of focus. A total of 120 credits, which includes 12-15 hours in each of three areas of focus, is required for graduation.

Lower Division-60-72 credit hours

  • Credits from associate degree (up to 62 credit hours)
  • Distribution requirements (8 courses)
    • English composition - 2 courses
    • Social or behavioral sciences - 2
    • Natural science - 1
    • Humanities - 2
    • Mathematics - 1



Upper-Level Courses-minimum of 48 credit hours

  • Twelve to 15 credit hours each of three focus areas
  • Senior Seminar (optional)
Electives to make a total of 120 credit hours

Organizational Change in a Multicultural and Global Environment

FOCUS AREA 2

Technological change in Manufacturing
Some examples of Area 2 courses are:

  • History of Industrial Technology
  • Human Factors Psychology
  • Intro. to Science/Technology Studies

 

FOCUS AREA 3

Auto Industry Studies
Some examples of Area 3 courses are:

  • Sociology of the Auto Industry
  • The Automobile in American Fiction
  • The Automobile in American Life
  • Practical Statistics
  • Theory and Practice of Fordism and Post Fordism

 

FOCUS AREA 4

Psychology
Some example of Area 4 courses are:

  • Organizational Entry
  • Gender Roles
  • Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • Human Factors in Psychology
  • Lifespan Developmental Psychology
