MEET OUR STAFF
Regina Storrs, Director As Career Services Director for the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Regina M. Storrs leads a student-driven, committed staff of professionals, in supporting the career development and employment goals of our students and recent alumni. Offering career and job search programs and services to our students and recent alumni in all academic units, under Regina's leadership the central Career Services Office provides career and job search counseling to 700+ students and alumni and job recruiting services to 1400+ constituents. A graduate from the historic Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Central Michigan University with a Master of Management and Supervision, she has conducted numerous workshops on career and employment trends, job search preparation, career topics and the like. A certified True Colors facilitator, she has participated in the UM-Dearborn Leadership Enhancement Services, the American College Personnel Association Management Institute, the National Association of Colleges and Employers Management Leadership Program and the Center for the Education of Women- Advanced Leadership Seminar. A strong contributor toward community partnerships, Regina was the winner of the 2001 - 2002 YMCA Minority Achievers Carrrie Terrell Volunteer Award and the YMCA Metro Collaborative 2006 Volunteer of the Year Award. She has taught as an adjunct lecturer on both the community college and university level. Quoting Regina, "Career growth requires being academically prepared, deliberate in self-assessments, intentionally building professional alliances, keeping your career radar open to all prospective opportunities, open to constructive comments and going for your career dream." She encourages everyone to build a strong academic foundation, get work experience (through co-op, internships, student employment or volunteer work) and to make every effort to convert their career dreams to reality.
Kathleen Adams, Senior Career Counselor Kathleen Adams has been a staff member with the Office of Career Services since December 1993. She has a Master of Arts in Guidance & Counseling with a focus on College Student Personnel from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Western Michigan University. She was also a State of Michigan certified teacher with endorsements in her major as well as health education and reading improvement. Kathleen currently counsels School of Education students and alumni, computer science majors, and many CASL majors. Her special interests include, but are not limited to: business etiquette dinner presentations, professional image, student employee training, and facilitating a student advisory board. Recent awards include a UM-Dearborn 2005 Exceptional Performance Award and the Summer 2007 Mentor of the Year from the Humanities/History Internship Program.
Britta Roan, Senior Career Counselor Britta has been with the Career Services office since 2001. She currently teaches the Career Planning Course (EXPS 102) which helps inform students’ decision-making through exploring skills, values, majors as they relate to career options/and goal-setting. She guides students individually as well as in groups and has recently formed the UM-Dearborn Job Club (see LinkedIN groups) to assist recent graduates with their job search strategies. Britta works with students who are in the College of Business, Engineering, CASL, Math, Economics, and International Studies Majors. Britta is an Alum of UM-Dearborn (1982) and has worked with the university for over 20 years in various roles as a counselor and coordinator of programs. She is on the CASL SOAR Board and a UM-Dearborn Campus Ambassador for new employees.
Kathy Cordon, Recruiting Adminstrator An experienced member of the Career Services office, Kathy has assumed progressive responsibilities since starting in the department in January 1990. Currently she is the office manager and recruiting administrator. She has a number of key office responsibilities including the Mock Interview Program, Campus Recruiting, student staff supervisor and budget coordination. Kathy interacts with employers, students, faculty and staff with a focus on providing excellent assistance. Some of her training includes budget management, customer service, time management, interpersonal skills, and campus recruiting software. Kathy is also the creator and administrator of Professional U – a program to assist students in becoming better prepared for their job search.
Mai Qazzaz, Career Services Specialist Mai graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a degree in Public Relations. She has been working at the Career Services Office since 2000. She started as a Co-op after graduation and she continues to work as a permanent UM-Dearborn employee. Mai coordinates Career Fairs once in the Fall and once in Spring. She also reports salary information to NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers). One of the biggest areas that she works with is Student Employment. She gives advice to Federal Work-Study students, helps them find jobs on-campus and off-campus, and she also places them and refers their applications to different departments and organizations.
Julie Kell-Wolf, Career Counselor Julie began working for the Career Services Office in January 2007 as a Graduate Intern, and after completing her internship was hired as a Career Counselor. She received an M.A. in Community Counseling from Oakland University and a B.A. in Psychology and English from Washington & Jefferson College. Julie is a National Certified Counselor and a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor working toward full Licensure. Students and alumni of all majors meet with Julie for resume reviews, job searches, career exploration and other career needs. Additionally, Julie co-teaches the Career Planning Course (EXPS 102) with Britta Roan. The course assists students at all levels with their career growth and development through career assessments, job searching techniques, values exercises, and exposure to employers.
Student Assistants
Krystle Beseler, Lead Student Assistant
Krystle Beseler attends the University Of Michigan - Dearborn majoring in Accounting and Finance. She began working at Career Services during her freshman year in November 2007 as a Student Assistant. She was appointed Lead Student Assistant as of May 2009. Her experience includes working on the career newsletter, resume critiques, and helping with Career Fairs.
James Andrews, Student Assistant/Website Assistant
James began working at Career Services as a Student Assistant during his sophomore year at the University of Michigan - Dearborn in August 2008. He also works on the Career Services website making frequent updates. He's currently taking business courses to get into the College of Business. He was awarded the Henry Patton Scholarship for Engineering and the Opportunity Scholarship to attend UM-Dearborn.
