As one of the state's leading research universities, UM-Dearborn is a catalyst for economic growth throughout the metropolitan region. To support that effort, the Business Engagement Center was established on the Dearborn campus in 2011 in close collaboration with the Business Engagement Center, Ann Arbor to strengthen the University's ties to business and industry, and to help revitalize and diversify the state of Michigan's economy.

The BEC, Dearborn is under the direction of the Office of Academic Affairs in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Advancement.
