Help bring Alternative Spring Break back to Detroit in 2009
Alternative Spring Break (ASB) 2008 was a life-changing experience for many of our students. For one week in February of 2008, dozens of UM-Dearborn students "gave up" their Spring Break and dedicated their time and talents to improve our community by working with the United Way for Southeastern Michigan to tackle the most important issues in our region - Education, Income and Basic Needs.
Through hours of volunteer service, they were able to prepare lots to build low-income housing, build a wheel chair ramp for a man who hadn't left his home in six years, mentor young children and help repair a women's shelter, a community center and a local school.
But their work isn't done yet, we need to bring ASB back to Detroit in 2009!
