Applying for Admission

The University of Michigan-Dearborn is among the most selective institutions in Michigan.  Admission criteria include academic performance in grades 10-12, test scores, class rank, trend of grades and mix of academic courses.  By completing the admissions application by the priority application deadline of December 15, you are automatically considered for scholarships.  Otherwise, applications are accepted until the first day of classes each semester.

How to Apply

  1. Apply online or print and fill out an Application for Admission.

  2. Attach a check or money order for the $30 non-refundable application fee, unless you previously applied to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor or Flint.

  3. Give the application to your high school counselor to complete it and provide an official copy of your high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores.

  4. Request that official transcripts be sent directly to the University by any colleges or universities you may have attended during high school (as a dual enrollment student, for example).  Fill out the High School Transcript Request Form and turn it in to your High School Counselor.

  5. Send all materials to the Office of Admissions and Orientation

    After you have been admitted to the University, you will receive information about placement exams and orientation.

    Applicants must graduate from an approved and/or accredited secondary school, home school or present a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

    • You are an F-1 visa student
    • You hold another temporary visa (such as F-2, H-4, B-1, B-2, L-1, L-2)
    • You hold refugee or asylum status
    • You are a permanent resident of the U.S.
    • You are a  U.S. citizen who is a non-native speaker of English
    • You are a U.S. citizen who has attended high school or college outside the U.S.
