Systems

There are two types of systems, sanitary and storm water. All inside drains, bathrooms, sinks, etc. are connected to the sanitary system which lead to the Detroit Waste Water Treatment Plant. However, all of the drains outside connect to the storm water system and discharge directly into the Rouge river without treatment. Therefore, there are only two things permitted down the storm drains; rain water and snow melt. If you observe anything else, please report it to Public Safety at (313) 593-5333.
