This film series will expose students, faculty and staff to poignant, controversial, and conversation starting films, relevant to leadership.  After each film, moderated discussion will allow all attendees the opportunity to participate by sharing their thoughts and ideas about the film, the broad issues in the film, and leadership.

Nonverbal Communication by Lin Klaassen

Why It's Critical to Know What Their Body is Saying - what people say is typically very different from what they are actually thinking or feeling, so you can never rely on words alone. As a rule, body language communicates more about what someone means than what his own words do. People may lie, but their body silently and unconsciously speaks the truth.

Nonverbal communication accounts for up to 90% of the meaning of a message. In this informative lecture, you will learn to read movements, gestures, eye contact and facial expressions. This is no ordinary program! You will walk out feeling like you've been given new eyes and new ears. You will be aware of hundreds of communications you had previously overlooked.

A Fighting Chance

A Fighting Chance is the vivid, character-driven story of Kyle Maynard, a young man born without arms or legs. At 23 years-old, Kyle has already become a nationally ranked wrestler, ESPY award-winner, motivational speaker and bestselling author. However, when Kyle seeks an official Mixed Martial Arts match against an able-bodied fighter- a highly controversial and dangerous goal - Kyle has to face even greater challenges in a world that fails to see him as anything but "disabled." Whether fighting in the MMA cage or extending his "No Excuses" philosophy to recovering military veterans, Kyle Maynard shows what life can be like when every day is a battle.  Co-Director, Takashi Doscher will be joining us on February 4th for a Q & A.
