F1 and J1 students/scholars are allowed to enter the country 30 days before their program start date. They cannot enter after the start date. Come early for orientation and registration.
Orientation is Mandatory for all New Students
Orientation includes the following components.
1) Check-in for non-immigrant visa holders:
Upon arrival at UM-Dearborn, each International student MUST check in at the International Office during scheduled check-in times.
Be sure to bring the following items: - passport
- visa
- I-94
- I-20 or DS-2019
- proof of health insurance (if available)
- U.S. address
2) Orientation and Government Regulations:
This orientation is designed as an introduction to the University of Michigan-Dearborn for international students and scholars and presents important information on government regulations.
Winter 2012 Tuesday-Thursday, January 3-5
All F1 and J1 students are required to go to the OIA and CHECK-IN. Please report to the Student Success Center Desk on the second floor of the University Center Building across from the elevator. Physical Presence forms must be completed. Bring passport and immigration papers to the International Office and begin the Registration process. Students will only be allowed to check-in during their scheduled times:
9 :00 am - 11:00 am Guest students (J1/F1)
1 :00 pm - 3:00 pm New students (F1)
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Returning students
Winter 2012
All new F1 and J1 students are required to attend the Government Regulations Workshop during the first semester.
