F1 and J1 students/scholars are allowed to enter the country 30 days before their program start date.  They cannot enter after the start date.  Come early for orientation and registration.

Orientation is Mandatory for all New Students

Orientation includes the following components.

1) Check-in for non-immigrant visa holders:

Upon arrival at UM-Dearborn, each International student MUST check in at the International Office during scheduled check-in times.

Be sure to bring the following items:

• passport
• visa
• I-94
• I-20 or DS-2019
• proof of health insurance (if available)
• U.S. address

2) Campus Orientation:

This orientation is designed as an introduction to the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
