Staff Satisfaction Survey
March 17, 2008
I am pleased to announce that we will be conducting our 2008 staff satisfaction survey later this spring to assess important perceptions of job satisfaction, climate and supervisor effectiveness among our employees. Staff members play a crucial role at our University and your opinions and thoughts about your level of satisfaction are important as we strive to make our campus a great place to work.
As you know, we conducted a 2007 staff satisfaction survey last spring. As a result of last year’s survey, units on campus have reviewed their results with staff to help leaders better understand top priorities for staff satisfaction through feedback sessions. Initiatives have begun to strengthen workplace satisfaction. We are encouraged that this year’s survey and follow-up processes will continue to promote open dialogue between staff and supervisors; ultimately leading to a long-term enhancement of staff satisfaction.
Similar to last year, our Human Resources team will be administering the survey and process. The survey was developed based on input from previous campus surveys, staff feedback, and review of satisfaction metrics based on best-practice assessments at other campuses, organizations and the UM-Health System. Additionally, our Senior Officers and Deans have provided considerable input to the survey tools and process.
In an effort to ensure confidentiality during the survey process and follow-up meetings, our Human Resources team will be using again a web-based survey tool that will allow each staff member to provide anonymous feedback.
A very important part of this process is the work we will do toward prioritizing unit-based workplace improvements, based on the results and feedback. Similar to last year, unit and departmental leadership will review survey results with staff in their areas of responsibility.
The 2008 survey will be administered from April 22 through May 14. We encourage all staff to complete the survey. If you have any questions about the survey or process please do not hesitate to contact me, your Senior Officer or Dean, or Human Resources.
Thank you in advance for your important feedback and commitment to our campus.
