Enrollment

Kindergarten
Thank you for your interest in the University of Michigan-Dearborn Child Development Center Kindergarten program. Below you will find links to print out a kindergarten application, school year calendar and tuition rates:

The UM-D CDC Kindergarten is designed to educate the whole child physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, linguistically and aesthetically. It is based upon research of leading psychologists and educators such as Piaget, Erikson and Vygotsky. The program utilizes the long-term arts based project approach as adapted from the Reggio Emilia inspired approach to early childhood education.

The Kindergarten program addresses the needs of the developing child and provides many educational opportunities. These opportunities stimulate children as they learn at their own rate and pace as they construct their own knowledge, think critically, solve problems and make decisions. Learning is an active process both physically and mentally. The CDC Kindergarten classroom will reflect this vigorous activity. The program provides many opportunities for children to manipulate a wide variety of materials as they work independently, in groups and with their teachers.

Kindergarten spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2008 to enroll in the UM-D CDC Kindergarten. To learn more about the UM-D CDC Kindergarten, please call (313) 593-5424 to schedule a tour.
