Other Freshman Scholarships

Alumni Legacy Scholarship will award up to $2,000 in scholarships to incoming freshmen with a familial relationship to a graduate of UM-Dearborn, demonstrated achievement in academic, extracurricular, community and/or leadership activities.

Dependent Tuition Scholarship provides scholarship support for tuition only to the IRS tax dependents of regular part-time and full-time staff and faculty at the University of Michigan-Dearborn (50% appointment or higher). The 50% tuition scholarship is restricted to first time undergraduate study. The application process is through the Office of Admissions and Orientation. Participants in this program must meet all admission and eligibility requirements of the University in effect at the time of enrollment.

Natural Science Scholarship awards two $1,500 scholarships to student who have excelled in all high school science and math courses and have a demonstrated involvement in the area of Natural Sciences.

Henry Patton Endowed Scholarship awards multiple scholarships to students pursuing degrees in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with the potential for renewal.

Chrysler Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen and transfer students majoring in engineering or computer science based on earned grades and ACT scores for freshmen.

Ford Motor Company Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen and transfer students majoring in engineering or computer science based on earned grades and ACT scores for freshmen.

General Motors Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen and transfer students majoring in engineering or computer science based on earned grades and ACT scores for freshmen.

Wade McCree Incentive Scholarship Program awards renewable full-tuition scholarships to qualified students from the Detroit or Southfield Public School System. Students are selected to participate in this program in the 9th grade by school administrators. Students are required to have a minimum recalculated GPA of 3.0 and a minimum composite ACT of 21 or a SAT score of 970.  Please see your high school counselor for details or contact the UM-Dearborn Office of Academic Support and Outreach at 313-593-5340.

Detroit Compact Scholarship awards renewable full-tuition scholarships to qualified students from the Detroit Compact High Schools. Students are selected to participate in this program by school administrators. Students are required to have a minimum recalculated GPA of 3.0 and a minimum composite ACT of 21 or SAT combined score of 970.  Additional details are available at the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, 313-596-5340.

Center for the Education of Women Scholarships (among all three U-M campuses) awards approximately 40 scholarships each year to qualified students who have had at least a 48-month interruption in their education and are now enrolled in a degree program.

Retired Persons Scholarship Program awards full-tuition scholarships covering tuition and related fees for part-time enrollment. Retired persons who have reached their 60th birthday are eligible to apply.

Athletic Scholarships The Athletic Department awards renewable and non-renewable scholarships to athletes in basketball (women and men), and volleyball (women). Eligible candidates are contacted by a University representative. Information on selection criteria can be obtained through the Athletic Department at 313-593-5540.
