Space Utilization Study
In 2011 the University of Michigan embarked on a campus wide space utilization study to understand, evaluate our current practices and implement standards and guidelines for future allocation of space. The first phase of this study focused on office space, meeting and conference rooms, assembly spaces, work rooms and storage areas. A committee representing these areas of the campus was formed and assisted with data collection and review. The final report for Phase I represents the findings of Comprehensive Facilities Planning (CFP) and the space utilization committee.
This study is resulting in two separate space guidelines: the first development is the Space Utilization Guidelines for office and office service spaces. These guidelines will assist you as you plan for moves and renovations within your department or college, and are being utilized for architectural programming of any renovation or re-purposing of space at UM-Dearborn.
The results of the Space Utilization Study can be found in the following presentation:

Classroom, Classroom Laboratory and Laboratory guidelines will follow in 2013 and a survey will be sent to campus later this year to better define faculty and student needs and preferences.
