As a parent of a child enrolled in the ECEC you are automatically a member of the ECEC Parent Association. The Parent Association is recognized as having a special interest in the Center's operation. All Center parents are encouraged to participate in the Parent Association. The Association is an advocate for Center parent interests, has representatives on the Early Childhood Education Center Advisory Board, and contributes services and funds to the Center on a voluntary basis. In addition, the Parent Association awards $1,000 in scholarship funds annually to ECEC families.
The Parent Association meets monthly from August through May. The next Parent Association meeting is scheduled for November 7, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Below are the minutes from the last meeting:
Please note: All checks for fundraisers should now be made payable to ECEC Parent Association.
The Early Childhood Education Center is pleased to announce our annual Better Made Potato Chip Fundraiser. You can support the ECEC and a Michigan company at the same time. Chips are $14.00 per case of 50 bags - only 28 cents per bag! These snacks make neat Halloween treats. Proceeds go to the ECEC Parent Association which provides scholarships for ECEC families, money to buy materials for the classrooms, materials for family events and pays staff for child care during events. Last year, you helped us raise $900 from this fundraiser.
Flavors offered this year are Hot BBQ, Regular, Salt & Vinegar, Regular BBQ, Sour Cream & Onion, Sweet BBQ chips and White Cheddar & Popcorn. Please return the above order form with payment by Wednesday, October 8, 2008 (make checks payable to ECEC Parent Association) to the ECEC front desk. Orders will be available for pick up on Tues. & Wed., October 28-29th.
The Box Tops program pays 10 cents for each box top and the funds will go directly to the ECEC. Send your box tops through campus mail or return them to the bin at the ECEC front desk.
Do you shop at Target? If you do, there's an easy way to help raise money for the ECEC. If you have a Target Guest Card, Target will donate 1% of your Target store and target.com purchases made on the Target Guest Card to the ECEC through their School Fundraising program.*
It's easy to participate. Just call the Target School Fundraising hotline at 1-800-316-6142 and give them your Target Guest Card account number and the ECEC's ID# 111135. Let your friends and family know. Anyone in the country who shops at Target can designate our school.
So far, 37 people have designated the ECEC to receive the 1% donation from their Target Guest Card.
If you don't have a Target Guest Card but would like to participate, you can pick up an application at the check out lanes at any Target store, or apply online.
*The Target Guest Card is a credit card issued by Retailers National Bank, an affliliate of Target. Subject to credit approval. Some restrictions apply to 1% donation.
In honor of the CDC's 25th Anniversary, the Parent Association prepared a cookbook which includes recipes from past CDC families as well as alumni staff of the CDC and School of Education. If you would like to purchase a cookbook, please stop by the ECEC front desk with a $10 check made out to the ECEC Parent Association.
There are a variety of tasks that we could use help with. If you are interested in helping with the Parent Association, please call the CDC office and tell them if you are interested in fundraising, parent nights or family events.
